BEng Mechanical Engineering: first-year foundation
Each of the University of Wolverhampton’s engineering degrees covers the same content during the first year, allowing students to specialise once they have a good grounding in the subject. Topics include Mathematics as well as Electrical, Mechanical, Materials and Production Engineering. Students will use this newly acquired production knowledge to build and test their own design.
BEng Mechanical Engineering: second year onwards
During the second year, students will expand their knowledge of engineering technologies and management, and will learn to use 3D CAD to a high standard. Students will also learn the key responsibilities of a professional engineer.
Following this, students are encouraged to undertake a 12-month industry placement year to build on these skills and improve their employment prospects. During the final year, students carry out individual projects and learn how to convert their ideas into commercial ventures.
